If you’ve been to or in a wedding (or seen the movie 27 Dresses), you know there are a lot of different directions the bridal party’s attire can go. Let’s talk bridesmaid dresses and 2014 trends.
Selecting a color and designer while allowing your maids to pick a dress style is a good way to please your people. Neutrals are big as are navy, jewel tones, pink, bright hues and mixing a color tone for an ombre effect.
Cohesion is nice, but whether that translates to dresses that match the theme, color pallet, venue or time of year is up to you. Mix and match colors, patterns, styles, textures or don’t. Above all else, aim to pick dresses you’re excited about and your bridal party is comfortable wearing.

It’s easy to get caught up in the Pinterest rabbit hole and think you need a perfectly styled cake topper in order for your wedding to exist. I get it, you want cute things for your big day.
Here are some of my favorite options from around the web and some tips for finding your match made in cake heaven.
Don’t blow the budget. Let’s be honest, this isn’t the best place to spend your money (unless cake toppers are your thing, in which case, get down with your bad self and buy those flamingos). There are lots of adorable and inexpensive options.
Do it yourself or let someone else DIY it for you. You know that crafty friend that keeps asking how she/he can help with the wedding? Ask if they’d be up to the cake topper task. Buy the supplies and send them a thank you treat.
Make it personal. This is great place to showcase your personalities, your theme for the day, your shared history, your sense of humor or your overall awesomeness.
Repurpose and reuse. How great is a cake topper that can be used in life post wedding? I guarantee cookies made with your wedding topper cutters will taste more delicious.
And now I’m hungry for cake.
Like last year, the Golden Globes provided some great bridal inspiration. I loved the metal embellishments; pastel, grey and shimmery tones; black accents; delicate details; and texture. Wedding aisle meet red carpet.
Can we also discuss a preggers Olivia Wilde in Guicci and Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren? And not gonna lie, I kinda loved Kaley Cuoco in Rani Zakhem Couture. What was your favorite Golden Globe look?
Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite details from Amber and Scott’s wedding. They tied the knot last July (happy anniversary!) at the Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster, Pa. Grey and orange goodness, DIY details, and a fairly attractive bride and groom equals magic.

As Pantone’s color of the year, emerald green has gotten a lot of action as home decor and fashion inspiration. In various shades, lengths and textures, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing lots of emerald green on bridesmaids in 2013.

Holy amazing awesomeness, Batman. Loving ban.do‘s new Black Label.
These one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted pieces are kinda perfect for a special occasion (or your average Tuesday). Check out more here.
Call it savoring the last bits of summer, but I can’t get enough hot pink. I’m pinning it like crazy over here.
When Cassandra Lavalle of coco+kelley threw a birthday party for her blog, she did it up real good. We’re talking beautiful florals in gilded urns, metallic trimmed china and hand calligraphied (not a word) menu cards.
